A different style of camping last night…. Churches are the bothys of the pilgrims after all. Stayed in a tiny church, rented from the @churchesconservationtrust @churchcamping team who call it #champing . This is St.Andrews…. a short walk from #Stonehenge and the beautiful Salisbury plain. Super serene… camp beds and facilities all provided for a very reasonable £55, dogs welcome. It felt very good resting in such a peaceful place. Champing helps preserve and protect some of our most precious architectural and historical places.… And being a history nerd is it right up my straße! #wildcamping #wildcampinguk #churchesconservationtrust

Thank you for the great pic Scott! This is a footprint for the #otimos #nomadsolo tent. The vestibule is a split affair which you can choose to roll back, one half at a time, should you wish to cook or do other admin. Let me know if you fancy this kinda set up.

Lovely feedback from customer James about a gear loft I recently made for his #Fjällräven #abiskoshape2 tent. The ceiling hanging points were super far apart, and hanging a gear loft between the whole spa would be far too long and baggy. So he shared the original design which I carried into my own version. Using original Clam Cleat LineLok minis and paracord to adjust the location of the gear loft, James is able to move the loft around to suit. Here’s his comments- ‘Hello Lucy,

This gear loft hangs from the 4 existing hanging points within and is made from white noseeum mesh I source from specialist supplier @pointnorthprofabrics ✂️ I also have olive green or black. I’ll be using this to suspend my iPad to watch a film on those endless long winter nights. Perfect.

A couple of things I made today….. one was a very clever design by @george_outdoors82 for his #nortent #vern1 tent footprint- having a vestibule section that can be separated and rolled back in halves! And another gear loft, this time for a Terra Nova Pioneer. I make my gear lofts with adjustable hanging depths so you can raise or lower the depending on how much stuff you put up there. Always looking for ways to improve things! ⛺️🌦️🌲🏔️

The views from the #ridgewaynationaltrail never disappoint, and it was just what we needed to reset. Two and a #malinois in an #xdome2 is certainly cosy, but we appreciated the hairy hot water bottle!

My 1442r Tyvek footprints get just the same tie out treatment as my standard ones. Reinforced with Tyvek tape both sides, flag stitching and pull force distribution stitching. Weighs just 43gsm and doesn’t have any unsightly printing on. Being made of HDPE it is also recyclable. I also include a length of tyvek tape for any emergency repairs. Now the equinox has passed the nights are getting one longer and days cooler… and I’ve had a run on insulated bag orders. Today has been spent making up a stock of half completed ones ready to add your choices of colour and set up. They keep battery devices from discharging in the cold, and keep your food warm, rehydrating it quicker and keeping it piping hot… it’s also a darn sight easier to hold. These are patented free standing with a double layer of insulation inside ripstop silnylon. All fabrics from @pointnorthprofabrics who are my main supplier. If you have one of my bags send me a pic! Now the equinox has passed the nights are getting one longer and days cooler… and I’ve had a run on insulated bag orders. Today has been spent making up a stock of half completed ones ready to add your choices of colour and set up. They keep battery devices from discharging in the cold, and keep your food warm, rehydrating it quicker and keeping it piping hot… it’s also a darn sight easier to hold. These are patented free standing with a double layer of insulation inside ripstop silnylon. All fabrics from @pointnorthprofabrics who are my main supplier. If you have one of my bags send me a pic! Little v.1 #xdome 1+ from #durstongear modification. Adding an extra guyline point on each corner to make 2 in all, giving more stability under sideways wind pressure and allowing the owner to have a 2 into 1 guyline set up. Newer iterations of the XDomes all have double corner points now. Tape and stitch colour was best match available, but I matched stitch length to reduce the number of holes sewn, another important consideration when working with small margins and fine materials… you don’t want it perforating like a teabag under pressure!! 🫖🏕️

Happy #SummerSolstice all! I hope you’re not melting too much. I shall be out tonight to see the sun set on the longest day and begin the slow march to mid winter. In the meantime I have finally entered the world of the #tyvekfootprint Using 1442r Tyvek I have now dialled in my approach to using this fascinating material. And like any material, it has its pros and cons. It’s exceedingly light at 43g/1.2oz per metre square, recyclable and white. But… it’s not as strong or waterproof as the other material I use, no stretch, bulkier to pack, rustly, more expensive per metre and…white! But one customer liked the white as it enabled them to spot ticks which were prevalent where they camp. For strengthening the tie out points I have tyvek tape which I’ve doubled over the edge and central placement. I trialled lots of different styles using a very scientific ‘wrench it until it fails’ method and this was the best. I also have metal mitten clips in stock if anyone wants to add them as an option to their footprint, tyvek or not. And what better way to show off a boring old clip? Drape it over a drinking horn I had to hand! (As every woman should have to hand on solstice of course!) ☀️🌅☀️ Happy Camping all.

Awesome news at @quint.craft HQ! Aided by the incredible people at Definition IP (an IP law firm!), I have just received my UK Patent Certificate for my insulated roll top bags! Literally couldn’t have done it without them. It’s taken a few years! And not one to rest on my laurels, I’ve been continuing to think of ways I can improve my operating ethics… I’ve switched to completely recycled and recyclable packaging and use paper bags for attachments I send with footprints. I’m going to continue sending my cut offs to @dirt_bags now being run by the wicked team at @snowdoniagearrepair so they can be given a new lease of life and not landfilled. I use 100% green energy tariff for my utilities and source materials from Uk companies only. Any other ideas welcomed!
