Making your own kit brings a huge amount of satisfaction, it’s how I got started in this business. 
 
So now I have customisable kits available for home construction. 
 
A domestic sewing machine and will to learn are all that’s needed. YouTube is your mentor for hemming and seaming techniques. 
 
Make a vestibule covering or a whole footprint, you decide. 
 
Material will be sent in one continuous length. It is 150cm wide, a non fraying PU coated woven nylon in black and weighs 65 grams per square metre with a HH of 10k and 70 denier robustness. I use this to make all my footprints. 
 
Tie out points can be added on each corner, these consist of a webbing loop sewn to the footprint, and threaded through this is a loop of shock cord which has a toggle or clip threaded through it. This toggle/hook secures into the flysheet tie out loop to secure it in place meaning you can pitch the tent and footprint all in one. Details in the pictures above. 
 
Take a look at the dimensions of your tent and work out how you’re going to construct the footprint- bearing in mind the 150cm width of the material and your seam allowance. I highly advise using a flat felled seam to join pieces, and a folded hem for the edge. These are just recommendations of course and you can make it how you wish. Seam sealing isn’t necessary but can be applied if you wish.

A 600m roll of Tera 60 thread also available, which is super strong and won't rot.

Magic clips are used instead of pins and won't puncture your footprint.
